Flip Book Animation Workshop for underprivileged kids
The Animation Society of India, in collaboration with the Mohile Parikh Center (NCPA, Mumbai) is conducting a full day Flip Book Animation Workshop for underprivileged kids from various NGOs across Maharashtra on Saturday, 19th December 2009 at NCPA, Mumbai.
Vaibhav Kumaresh will introduce the fascinating world of animation to a group of 40 children by screening a variety of animation films so that they can get a feel of the medium. He will then demonstrate how a series of single drawings/ images when played at a certain speed, create the illusion of movement. The children will then be given papers and pencils to doodle page by page. Once they have completed their drawings, they will put together their pages with a rubber band and flip them to see the animation they have created!
TASI speakers show how its done @ IFFI
The An
imation Society of India made its debut at the prestigious International Film Fest
ival of India at Goa this year. TASI presented a variety of films including a retrospective of Indian animation, contemporary and upcoming feature animation films. Amongst its distinguished speakers were the maestros – Bhimsen and VG Samant. Ram Mohan who was also scheduled as part of the original troika could unfortunately not be present due to urgent commitments back home. The retrospective films attracted an interesting crowd to the hall. Films from yesteryears that shaped many a career were showcased bringing back pleasant memories to the seniors in the audience. The highpoint was an interaction with the Gurus where they shared lesser known facts about the history, making of, concepts and hardships they faced while making the films.
