Anifest India 2013Call for entries: TASI Viewer’s Choice Awards.

All entries received are previewed by a panel of eminent industry professionals at a special screening where the jury shortlists films for the final competition.

The shortlisted films are screened at the festival for voting by the audience. Votes are counted on the spot and the entry receiving the most votes is declared the winner for that category.

In case of a tie, one winner per category will be decided by members of TASI managing committee.

Categories:
1. Student films: Animation films produced / directed by students
2. Independent Professional short films: Animation short films produced / directed by professionals
3. Commissioned films: Animated ad films, promos, packaging, music videos, public service films

Maximum duration of films: 10 mins (Films of longer duration will not be considered for the competition)

Format: DVD (.VOB format)

Submission Fee: Free

Validity of Films: Only films made after August 2012 will be eligible

Rules and Regulations:
• Each film MUST be accompanied by its respective entry form duly filled. Entries with incomplete forms will be immediately disqualified.
• Films sent as entries will be added to the TASI archives.
• TASI reserves the right to use any/all of the entries for its promotional activities.
• Students have to provide a letter from their institute certifying validity of film(s) for student category.
• TASI reserves the right to accept/reject entries at its discretion.
• The Viewer’s Choice Award consists of one single trophy per category.
• In case of a tie, one winner per category will be decided by members of TASI managing committee.
• Each entry to be submitted on a separate DVD.
• Entry must be a standalone film, clip or sequence. Campaigns and episodic series will NOT be considered.
• In case of episodic series, each episode may be submitted as a standalone entry.
• The prizes have to be collected from TASI by the winners within 30 days from Anifest India 2013, failing which TASI reserves the right to award the winnings to the next best film. All applicable taxes, levies, transportation and other costs to be borne by the respective awardees.
• Decision of the society regarding any/all of the above will be final and binding on all parties without prejudice

YouTube 101 – Special Session in Mumbai

YouTube 101 with TASI

The Animation Society of India invited YouTube to conduct a special series of workshops for audio-visual content creators. These workshops called the ‘YouTube 101’ have been specially designed for enthusiastic animators and film-makers who want to create their own original content, publish the content and build a career in doing the same. The objective of the program is to help creators understand the new media/YouTube and how they can start their own media venture on YouTube.

The session covered the following topics:

  1. Understanding the current media world (Old/New media & YouTube)
  2. How to monetize and market your content on YouTube
  3. How to program your content, develop your channel and build audience for your channel on YouTube
  4. How to start on YouTube + Creating Content for YouTube

The first YouTube 101 session was held in Mumbai on 23rd Feb, 2013, at Google India, Maker Max City, 3rd North Avenue, 1st Floor, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai.

SPEAKERS:
Gaurav Dobhal
Partner Acquisitions Manager, India and SE Asia

Gaurav started his professional journey as an entrepreneur launching India’s first independent music platform Tempostand.com. After his start up journey he has worked across a range of media organizations from WPP to Times of India, leading digital marketing campaigns for clients like Ford, Intel, Panasonic and Dolby to name a few. He’s a believer in the power of the digital medium and is excited by the huge entrepreneurial opportunities it presents.

Aanchal Bahadur

Aanchal is a Bachelor of Commerce from Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University. She started her career at Google with AdWords and moved to YouTube last year. Aanchal is a new media enthusiast and is currently excited about working to develop more content genres for more choice on what to watch on YouTube in India. In her free time, she likes to read and write (anything and everything), listen to music, paint and thankfully, watch YouTube videos

Model Animation Workshop with Vaibhav Studios
On 16th February 2013, Nagpur was host to a hands-on workshop in Model Animation with the Vaibhav Studios team, where the process of stop motion/puppet/clay animation was demonstrated live. This included techniques like displacement as well as replacement animation. Stop motion professional artists guided the participants to create their own wire frame armatures for stop motion. All the material for the workshop was provided by TASI.

The workshop demonstrated the following:

1. Stop motion film screenings: puppets, clay, different materials, pixillation
2. Replacement/ displacement animation techniques
3. Translating a 2d character design into an armature diagram
4. Live demonstration of the process of making armatures
5. Tips and suggestions on materials
6. Action analysis
7. Shoot set up
8. Live demonstration of the stop motion animation shoot
9. Playback of the action and review
10. Exhibition of participants’ armatures
11. Q&A

The response was fantastic and now artists and aspiring animators from Nagpur and nearby towns are eager for more such workshops.

The Animation Society of India is delighted to invite YouTube to conduct a special series of workshops for audio-visual content creators. These workshops called the ‘YouTube 101’ are specially designed for enthusiastic animators and film-makers who want to create their own original content, publish the content and build a career in doing the same. The sessions will be held in various cities across the country at the respective YouTube offices. All student participants will get a certificate from YouTube and will be eligible for a reward program based on their small project/practical work. The number of seats are limited so registrations will be on a first come first served basis.

Terms & Conditions:

  1. Participant must be a current TASI member (Student or Professional, Half-yearly/Annual/Life)*
  2. Participant must have his/her own YouTube channel (If you don’t have one already, you can visit youtube.com and create one now)
  3. Participant must be willing to complete the assignment given during the course of the session and submit it as per the guidelines.

SPEAKER PROFILES:

Bharat Zende
Head of Online Partnerships, YouTube India & SE Asia

Bharat Zende is the head of India’s online partner operations for YouTube. He manages online partnerships and acquisitions’ for original creators for YouTube in India and SouthEast Asia. Prior to joining YouTube, Bharat spent 3+ years at Star India (P) Ltd, where he was Regional Manager and was involved in Star India’s digital ad sales strategy and operations. He has worked in the Internet media space for a number of years, with some of India’s leading media companies, including The Times of India and NDTV. He has a strong background in digital advertising and monetizing entertainment content on internet and mobile space.

Bharat is a graduate from SIES College Mumbai and has a Master of Management studies specializing in Marketing from University of Mumbai. Bharat lives in Mumbai and operates out of Google’s Mumbai office.
